When I first envisioned photographing Tanner McDaniel, I wanted to capture the essence of one of the most technical riders of all time. I wanted to connect the power of Pacific Ocean and surf the subject expresses his wave riding from it.

I wanted to capture his demeanor and blend it with his abilities.
I used light and color to create a unique mix that would transport viewers to the surf, character and personality that Tanner is.

When I photograph subjects, I want to tell their stories in a way that feels cinematic. I look for moments that capture their unique personalities and bring them to life on the screen. By doing this, I’m able to create images that feel like they’re straight out of a movie. It’s an incredible feeling to be able to bring these stories to life through my photography.
